Habifest 2007

On September 15, 2007, the forecast called for “rain,” but Habifest brought out the “sunshine” in Howard County. Along with the sunshine, nearly 400 runners showed up for Habitat of Howard County’s Eighth Annual 5K Run/Walk. That is almost four-times the amount of the prior year’s participants.

The run began in front of the proud race sponsor, COPELAND’S Restaurant in Columbia, MD. Copeland’s provided a complimentary brunch, their were children’s activities, a disc jockey, a birdhouse build, a wonderful prize drawing of more than 50 prizes, including a round of golf at the private Turf Valley Resort, and full-body massage at Lynn’s Day Spa in Columbia, MD. More than $1000 in total cash prizes were given away. A special thanks goes to Jim Discuilo and the Howard County Striders who helped administer the race and FAST Fitness who lead the runners in pre-race warm ups.

Next year’s race will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008.
