Howard County, Maryland is often cited for its wealth, and outstanding school systems, yet the 2000 US Census report shows that nearly 12,000 people in Howard County live below the official poverty threshold. Shocking isn't it?

It's even more shocking when you find out that the official poverty threshold for a single person under the age of 65 is $10,400 per year and only $21,200 for a family of 4 according to the prior HHS Poverty Guidelines and Federal Register References. That means that a family of 4 lives off of less that $500 per week. What would you have to give up to survive? What would your children have to go without? What type of neighborhood would you have to live in?

We at Habitat for Humanity of Howard County believe that every family should be given the chance to build a better life. An opportunity we can give them by working in partnership with Habitat Supporters like you.

Habitat for Humanity of Howard County is embarking on a mission that will change the lives of 3 local families. Without the support of time talents and dollars from people like you our projects would not be possible.

Local Giving

All Habitat For Humanity Of Howard County donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law and will be acknowledged with a letter you may use for those purposes. Gifts made on-line are safe, thanks to our secure-server capability and will be put to good use by Habitat. We take seriously our responsibility to contributors, to those counting on our help to be wise stewards of funds entrusted to us.

We raise all our funds locally and receive no funding from Habitat for Humanity International. We support the efforts of Habitat for Humanity International by tithing 10% of all donations, unless the donation is restricted to be used in Howard County.
